A Reputation Management Campaign for Seaport Fish Co.

Aqua Communications provides ongoing public relations support to Seaport Fish Co. and the NH Fresh & Local Seafood brand.

Aqua was initially engaged to manage the reputation of Rye-based Seaport Fish Co. – a local family-owned seafood market – amid health and safety issues and demonstrate its diligent work to ensure a clean, safe environment for its customers. The company has consistently provided fresh, high-quality seafood product offerings to the Seacoast and beyond for more than 30 years. Aqua worked with Seaport to develop a PR plan, and respond immediately and effectively to address community concerns. At Aqua’s PR direction, the organization communicated its focus on food safety in daily operations and its responsibility to offer the highest quality catch.

Aqua worked to emphasize the collaboration of local fisherman engaged in the UNH Cooperative Extension’s fisheries program, the New Hampshire Commercial Fisherman’s Association and Portsmouth-based Seaport Fish Co. to enhance outreach and public education about the local fishing industry, and health and safety planning.

As part of the Public Relations plan, Aqua also highlighted the work underway by Seaport Fish to educate the community about the historical significance of the local industry during the local shrimp season. Aqua promoted Seaport Fish as an engaged community partner that has been actively involved in the development of the NH Fresh & Local Seafood brand. The brand was the work of many organizations from the Seacoast region working to preserve the local fishing industry. This PR work resulted in a number of proactive media placements in a variety of media in support of Seaport and other local fishing organizations.

Seaport Fish was featured in a regional newspaper as a marketing sponsor of Strawbery Banke Museum’s Candlelight Stroll offering freshly prepared shrimp caught by local fisherman at the onset of shrimp season to benefit the Museum and build awareness about the fishing industry. The media placement promoted Seaport’s support of Strawbery Banke along with members of NH Fresh & Local Seafood.

Aqua’s PR team then worked closely with the company to develop a holiday coupon program to build loyalty during the winter months and also highlighted the company’s participation in the winter markets. The company continues to enjoy a loyal customer base.
